A divine creation that is the chocolate almond croissant, a wonderful selection of loaves, the freshest baguettes and a range of pastries that will transport you to Paris – Tonton bread is a hole-in-the-wall bakery that you absolutely must try. A stone’s throw from the busy Crown Street bars, this little gem is well worth your time.

Boasting an on-site stone flour mill, prioritising sustainable and local sources of seed and grain, A.P Bakery churns out some of Sydney’s tastiest, freshest bread. Native ingredients used imaginatively result in the best sourdough baguettes, the flaky croissants, fermented potato buns, mixed grain loaves, huge pizza biancas, rosella wheat whiskey canelles and cheesy scrolls and more.

Head baker, Shady Wasef, is a former fine dining chef who combines his passion for pastry with techniques and flavours from his Egyptian heritage to create an incredible range of delicious baked goods. The flavourful Pioik egg sandwich, the focaccia, rye and five-grain breads, twists and scrolls are not-to-be-missed, and we definitely recommend stocking up on the flourless chocolate biscuits, simits and spice twists.

This Inner West spot specialises in merging Japanese flavours with European baking techniques, it has some of the most imaginative flavours with the most out-of-this-world tastes and textures. The matcha Swiss rolls, melon pan, curry doughnuts, yuzu cheesecakes, and kimchi pork sausage rolls are to die for, as are the buttery croissants.
