Keen to get the most out of your day in Bondi? Follow our itinerary for the perfect visit to this iconic beachside suburb.
MORNING
Start the day right with breakfast at Speedos Cafe (126 Ramsgate Ave), Bills
(79 Hall St) or Glory Days (located in the Bondi Pavilion). Fuelled and ready to go, it’s time to put your legs to work. Stroll the length of world-famous Australian icon Bondi Beach, past Bondi Icebergs (1 Notts Ave) and its sparkling ocean pool, and then onwards to the breathtaking Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk, arguably the most beautiful clifftop coastal walk on the planet. To give yourself a quick taste, it’s a 20- to 30-minute walk to Tamarama Beach (the full walk to Coogee takes 2-3 hours). Pop in for a quick swim at Tamarama then head back towards Bondi to continue your day.
LUNCH
Local favourite Gertrude & Alice (1/46 Hall St) does tasty snacks set in a quirky second- hand bookshop. Or for rustic-chic bistro food, try Bondi Hardware (39 Hall St), open from midday
on weekends. Lox Stock & Barrel (140 Glenayr Ave) is a buzzy NYC-style deli, while Brown Sugar (106 Curlewis St) does highly rated Modern Australian food.
AFTERNOON
Finished with lunch? Head to Aquabumps (64 Hall St) to see local photographer Eugene Tan’s depictions of Bondi’s coastal and beach scenes. Next, it’s time to catch a wave – whether you’re a complete beginner or want to top up your skills, Lets Go Surfing (128 Ramsgate Ave) is the place to go. And if you’re there on Sunday, don’t miss the chance to wander Bondi Markets (Bondi Beach Public School, Campbell Pde), open until 4pm.
EVENING
Bondi Trattoria (34 Campbell Pde) does delicious Italian food with an Aussie twist – with great views to boot. Or head to Hurricane’s Grill (130 Roscoe St) – you can smell the ribs from blocks away. Prefer to go where the celebs go? Secure a booking at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar and enjoy those iconic views across the beach to North Bondi.
